CUSTOM WINDOW FURNISHINGS FOR STYLE AND FUNCTION
Designed by Selzer Design Studio, WD Residence in Melbourne’s prestigious Toorak, has undergone a refined renovation where carefully considered materials, textures and detailing create a sophisticated yet understated interior.
Working alongside the project team, SOM Blinds supplied and installed a selection of custom-made window furnishings including motorised curtains, bespoke banded curtains, sheer roller blinds and motorised soft Roman blinds , with each window furnishing tailored to the design and functional requirements of the space.
Fabric selection was particularly important. In the master bedroom, contrasting fabrics from The Textile Company were combined to create distinctive banded blockout curtains, while a discreet sunscreen roller blind provides additional daytime privacy and glare control.
Motorised curtains in other bedrooms and the family rumpus room provide convenient operation while maintaining the tailored appearance of traditional curtains. In the study, motorised soft Roman blinds in Positano fabric introduce texture and a softer finish, complementing the architectural detailing and considered material palette.
The result is a coordinated approach to window furnishings, where fabric selection, functionality and tailored detailing contribute to the overall interior design.

MOTORISED SOFT ROMAN BLINDS
The study at WD Residence features custom-made soft Roman blinds in Positano fabric from The Textile Company. Their relaxed folds introduce texture and softness, complementing the room’s decorative architectural details and contemporary furnishings.
Motorisation allows the blinds to be raised and lowered effortlessly, providing convenient control of natural light and privacy without the need for visible operating cords.
The soft Roman design was selected to complement the character of the room, offering a more relaxed alternative to a traditional roller blind while maintaining a tailored appearance.
BANDED BLOCKOUT CURTAINS
The master bedroom at WD Residence features custom-made pencil pleat blockout curtains, combining Toscana and Earth Linen fabrics from The Textile Company.
The contrasting fabrics create a distinctive banded design, introducing depth and texture while complementing the room’s carefully considered palette of materials and finishes.
Behind the curtains, a sheer sunscreen roller blind in Four Families St Lucia provides daytime privacy and glare control while allowing natural light into the room. A fabric-covered bottom rail gives the blind a discreet, coordinated finish.
WINDOW FURNISHINGS DESIGNED FOR THE INTERIOR
Throughout the WD Residence, the window furnishings were selected to complement the home’s carefully considered interiors, combining quality fabrics, tailored detailing and practical light control.
From the motorised soft Roman blinds in the study to the custom blockout curtains in the bedrooms, each solution responds to the requirements of the individual space while maintaining a cohesive design approach.
