The window furnishing for this amazing home only 8km form melbourne’s CBD was to keep letting the outside in!
SOLUTIONS
The team at Ben Callery love to integrate window furnishings into their overall design, especially on the outside. Combining external venetians with internal motorised blinds and sheer curtains, the solutions chosen for this project maintain the connection the owners wanted to have with the landscape, at the same time managing light, heat and privacy.
Wakanui House – A Seamless Connection with Nature
In keeping with the signature style of many Ben Callery Architects projects, the Wakanui House in Melbourne’s inner-city suburb of Northcote embraces a strong connection to the surrounding landscape. When it came to blinds and curtains the brief was clear: enhance this connection while delivering essential privacy, light management, and thermal control.
This balance was achieved using a combination of internal and external solutions. The motorised blinds and sheer curtains not only preserved the stunning views of the adjacent parkland but also introduced texture and softness to the striking, fully glazed gable end of the home’s contemporary extension.
